At half past 8, we had breakfast and packed up. After vising Crazy But Spicy's father, who happened to be shaving a recently slaughtered pig's head (for the New Year celebration), we started our hour-long trek to a waterfall. CBS's loyal companion, a super cute dog named "Si" (meaning 4 in Thai), hiked with us all the way. The mostly downhill trekking was by far the most scenic, with spectacular views of mountains and varied trails. Quite steep, definitely not a walk in the park but fun!
After 20 minutes at the cold waterfall, we speed walked along the stream towards the rafting place.
After lunch, we left our stuff in a truck and each got a paddle for the hour-long exciting white-water rafting followed by a very short bamboo-raft ride. There are some photographers that took pictures of your rafting experience that can be put on a USB stick and purchased for 150-450 baht. There's a place to change before you hop on a songtaew for the hour and a half ride back to Chiang Mai.
Although your experience will largely depend on the group of people you end up with, I thought this was a pretty awesome trip overall... a bit like camping, but better! Just don't expect too much from the guides, watch where you're going when you're hiking, and bring the right shoes!
